About Me

I’m Rachel and I’m the face behind Rachel’s Nesting Co.

I started this blog with the intention of sharing home décor that takes the canvas of a house and turns it into a home. From the moment I bought my first house, I believed that a home should be like a nest. Each piece should be intentionally chosen to create a safe, comfortable space to thrive in.

I have been fascinated by the nesting process since I was a child spending mornings watching robins build their nests in my mother’s rose bushes and my afternoons watching barn swallows make their homes out of hay, baling twine, and (most impressively) the color strands of hair from the horses’ manes and tails. The mother birds would work tirelessly every spring to gather grasses, twigs, and twine to weave into a beautiful haven for her eggs. The nest had to be cozy enough to protect her precious eggs, but it also had to be sturdy enough to hold tiny babies as they learned how to survive.

Even as a child, I began to realize that the spaces we inhabit should make us feel at home and they should make us feel happy. In college and in my first apartment, I struggled to find the balance between decor that was purposeful yet temporary. It was when I purchased my first home at 23 years old that my dream of building my nest came true.

I have spent the last two years adding, taking away, and changing my home to make it my own, and the process will continue indefinitely, I’m sure. My hope is that by sharing my story and inspiration, I can connect with others like me and create a community of nest-building people who thrive in their homes.

If you’d like to collaborate with me, I’d be happy to hear from you!

Thanks for reading! I hope you stop by again, soon!
